Ratings & warnings
Rate every work: General, Teen, Mature, Explicit or Not Rated. Explicit works are shown only to visitors who confirm they're 18+. Use the content warnings honestly, or choose “Creator chose not to add warnings” so readers know to proceed with care.
Positive-only comments
FicSpark comments exist to encourage creators. Tell them what you loved. Critique, nitpicks, “this was boring”, insults and demands for updates don't belong here.
- Gentle check: when you post, a simple word check looks for phrases that might read as negative. If it matches, your comment is held for a human moderator instead of being published. Fandom affection like “I hate you for this ending 😭” or “this destroyed me” is fine.
- Readers can report a published comment, which also sends it to the review queue.
- Only a moderator can give a ding. After reviewing, a moderator either publishes the comment (no ding) or confirms it was negative, which hides it and records one ding on the commenter's account. Automatic checks never give dings.
- Threshold: 3 active dings pause your commenting. Dings expire after 90 days. You can see every ding and its reason on your dashboard, and you can appeal to an admin.
- Messages sent with reader support follow the same rule.
AI-assisted and AI-generated art
AI tools are allowed for art, as long as you say so. When posting, choose No AI used, AI-assisted (AI used for part of the work: backgrounds, references, upscaling, paint-overs) or AI-generated (the image was mainly produced by an AI tool). The label appears as a badge, and readers can hide AI-labelled art. Mislabelled art can be reported and relabelled or hidden. Don't use AI to imitate a specific living artist's style without permission, and don't feed other people's fan works into AI tools without their consent.
Not allowed
- Harassment, hate, threats, doxxing.
- Sexual content involving minors, real or fictional, in any form. Illegal content.
- Plagiarism or reposting other people's work.
- Spam and commercial advertising (optional creator support links are fine).
- Real-person content that is sexual or defamatory.
