13 sparksChapter 14: Brainy Vs Smart
In Search Of Myself.
A very short scene. The context is that Brainy has befriended a Smurf named Smart, one who can match him for and encourages his intelligence. However, Smart also happens to be a jerk who treats anyone less intelligent than he is with contempt, with many red flags that Brainy ignored in favor of finally having somesmurf that he clicks with mentally.
Until those red flags start affecting his real friends, anyways.
"You know what? You're right; they are idiots," Brainy said, crossing his arms. He couldn't see his friends behind him, but he assumed they looked various degrees of shocked and betrayed. Well, except for Clumsy, he'd just have that sad, agreeing smile that made Brainy in equal parts want to yell at him about self respect and kick himself for whatever he said to bring about that expression.
"And it's hard, sometimes, being with Smurfs so far beneath my intellectual level," Brainy continued, putting his arms behind his back and smirking. He looked Smart right in the eye, walking forward slowly. "It's hard, but it is worth it to know these Smurfs. They are the kindest, most loyal beings I've ever known. They have smurfed by me and protected me and called me out, no matter how much everysmurf else smurfed that I was an arrogant blowhard who should be ignored."
"They may be idiots," he came to a stop before Smart, barely half an inch away, "but they are kind idiots, loyal idiots, idiots who will smurf by their morals no matter what. They are idiots who understand other Smurfs and diplomacy and smurfing rocks better than you or I ever will."
"In conclusion," he scowled, leaning in until their noses were touching, "they are my idiots, and I will not let you hurt them again, in any way. So get new test subjects, Smart Aleck, before I smurf you into one."

And why did that sentence make him want to scream?
"On second thought, Clumsy and you wouldn't smurf well together, you're too different." As if summoned, Clumsy tripped towards their table. Glasses glared at him. "Clumsy, don't flirt with Hefty, he's not your type and is into girls — you'd smurf your heart broken."

That was so heartwarming! The safe harbour that vanity provides for grouchy is so smurfing lovely. Also I in madly in love with this way you gave vanity to interact by making another Smurf he can look into the eyes. This needs to be canon.
